APPLICATION FOR ADMISSIONS INTO BACHELOR DEGREE PROGRAMMES FOR THE 2013/2014 ACADEMIC YEAR

 

The Institute of Rural Development Planning invites applications from qualified Tanzanians and non- Tanzanians for admission in various Bachelor Degree Programmes tenable at the Institute for the academic year 2013/2014 as indicated below:

 

 

1. BACHELOR DEGREE PROGRAMMES (THREE YEARS)

 

  1. RD004: Bachelor Degree in Regional Development Planning

A candidate should have:

 

Either

 

  1. At least two principal passes not below 3.5 points in the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) in Mathematics, Economics, Geography, History and English based on the following grades to point conversion scale: A=5; B=4; C=3; D=2; E=1;S=0.5

 

Or

 

  1. A relevant Ordinary Diploma with at least second class from any learning institution registered by the Government or any other recognized body of the country of study.

 

 

  1. RD002: Bachelor Degree in Environmental Planning and Management

A candidate should have:

Either

  1. At least two principal passes not below 3.0 points in the advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) in Mathematics, Economics, Geography, Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Agriculture based on the following grades to point conversion scale: A=5; B=4; C=3; D=2; E=1;S=0.5

Or

  1. A relevant Ordinary Diploma with at least second class from any institution registered by the Government or any other recognized body of the country of study.

 

  1. RD003: Bachelor Degree in Population and Development Planning

A candidate should have:

Either

  1. At least two principal passes not below 3.5 points in the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE), with at least “C” or above in Mathematics, Economics, Geography, Physics, Biology, History and Divinity studies based on the following grades to point conversion scale: A=5; B=4; C=3; D=2; E=1;S=0.5

Or

  1. A relevant Ordinary Diploma with at least second class or Higher Diploma from any higher learning institutions registered by the Government or any other body of the country of study.

  1. RD001: Bachelor Degree in Development Finance and Investment Planning

A candidate should have:

Either

  1. At least two principal passes not below 3.5 points in the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) in Mathematics, Accountancy, Commerce, Economics, Geography, History, English and Kiswahilibased on the following grades to point conversion scale: A=5; B=4; C=3; D=2; E=1;S=0.5

Or

  1. A relevant Ordinary Diploma with at least second class from any higher learning institutions recognized by the Government or any other recognized accreditation body of the country of study.

  1. RD005: Bachelor Degree in Human Resource Planning and Management

A candidate should have:

Either

  1. At least two principal passes with a total of at least 3.5 in the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) passes in Mathematics, Economics, Commerce, Accounts, Geography, History, English and any other science subjects. A=5; B=4; C=3; D=2; E=1;S=0.5

Or

  1. A relevant Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6) with at least Lower Second class from any higher learning institution as recognized by NACTE or any other accreditation body.

 

 

  1. RD006: Bachelor Degree in Urban Development and Environmental Management

A candidate should have:

Either

  1. At least two principal passes with a total of at least 3.5 in the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) passes in Mathematics, Economics, Geography, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Agriculture, History, Accountancy and Commerce. A=5; B=4; C=3; D=2; E=1;S=0.5

 

Or

 

  1. A relevant Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6) with at least second class pass grade from any institution of higher learning registered by NACTE or any other national accreditation body of the country of study.

 

  1. RD007: Bachelor Degree in Development Economics

 

A candidate should have:

Either

  1. A relevant Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6) with at least Lower Second class from any higher learning institution recognized by NACTE or any other accreditation body of the country of study

Or

 

  1. At least two principal passes with a total of at least 3.5 in the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) passes in Mathematics, Economics, Commerce, Accounts, Geography, History, English and any other science subjects. A=5; B=4; C=3; D=2; E=1;S=0.5

 

2. HOW TO APPLY

All applicants will apply for admission into the mentioned degree programmes through the Central Admission System (SAS).

 

  1. The Central Admission System (CAS) may be accessed through TCU or NACTE websites www.tcu.go.tz or www.nacte.go.tz

  2. All applicants are advised to follow the stages for registration and application carefully as stipulated in Admissions Guidebook for Higher Education Institutions to avoid any inconveniences.

 

3. APPLICATION FEE

All Applicants who possess proof of payment of either NACTE Examination Fees or NACTE Quality Assurance Fees for three years of study will apply PRO BONO (without payment of application fee).

 

All other applicants will be required to pay application fee through M-PESA as stipulated below:

 

  1. Those who paid NACTE Quality Assurance fee of Tshs 15,000 per year during their studies, will pay the remaining balance to make a total of Tshs. 50,000/=; implying that those who paid for two years will have to pay Tshs. 20,000/=, and those who paid only one year will have to pay Tshs 35,000/= only.

 

  1. All other applicants who do not possess the proof of payment for NACTE Quality Assurance fees SHALL be required to pay full amount of Tshs 50,000/=.

 

However, all applicants who posses Diploma from Institute of Rural Development Planning have to pay 20,000/= only as application fee.

 

4. DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION

The deadline for will be 30th June 2013 and the deadline for applicants who will complete their studies in 2013 will be on 31st July 2013.

APPLICATION FOR ADMISSIONS INTO CERTIFICATE, DIPLOMA, POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA AND MASTERS DEGREE PROGRAMMES FOR THE 2013/2014 ACADEMIC YEAR

 

The Institute of Rural Development Planning which is accredited by the National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) invites applications from qualified Tanzanians and non- Tanzanians for admission into the following programme in the 2013/2014. Academic year

 

1. MASTERS DEGREE PROGRAMMES (18 MONTHS)

(a)
Masters Degree in Development Economics

 Minimum Entry Requirements

Applicants should have at least one of the following minimum qualifications as approved by NACTE:-

  1. At least a Bachelor Degree Second Class for classified awards or average of B grade or credit for unclassified awards in relevant or related discipline; or
  2. At least a Bachelor Degree of Pass grade for classified awards or average of C grade for unclassified awards in relevant or related discipline with Postgraduate Diploma of at least Second Class for classified awards or average of B+ grade for unclassified awards; or
  3. At least a Bachelor Degree of Pass grade with Postgraduate Diploma in relevant or related discipline.

 

 (b)Masters Degree in Environmental Planning and Management

Minimum Entry requirements

     Candidates intending to apply for admission into this study programme should have at least one of the following minimum qualifications:

  1. At least a Bachelor Degree - Second Class for classified awards or average of B grade or credit for unclassified awards in relevant or related discipline; or.
  2. At least a Bachelor Degree with a Pass grade for classified awards or average of C grade for unclassified awards in environmental planning and management or related discipline with Postgraduate Diploma of at least Second Class for classified awards or average of B+ grade for unclassified awards.
  3. At least a Bachelor Degree of Pass grade with Postgraduate Diploma in relevant or related discipline.

2. POST-GRADUATE DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES (12 MONTHS)

(a)Postgraduate Diploma in Regional Planning

(b)Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Planning

(c)Postgraduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management

(d)Postgraduate Diploma in Governance and Sustainable Development

 

Minimum Entry Requirements

Candidates for the Postgraduate Diploma Courses should have acquired any first degree or its equivalent academic qualifications from higher learning institutions registered by government or any recognized bodies of the country of study.

 

3. ORDINARY DIPLOMA PROGRAMME (2 YEARS)

 

a) Diploma in Development Planning

This programme is offered at the Main Campus Dodoma and Lake Zone Centre in Mwanza

Minimum Entry Requirements

A candidate shall be deemed eligible for consideration for admission to a course leading to the award of the Diploma in Development Planning if he/she has obtained either Certificate (NTA level 5) from IRDP or any other learning institution accredited by NACTE.

OR

Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education with a minimum of two grade points obtained from at least one principal pass and any other two subsidiary passes in relevant subjects.

 

4. CERTIFICATE COURSE (1 YEAR)

 

a) Certificate in Rural Development Planning

This programme is offered at the Main Campus Dodoma and Lake Zone Centre in Mwanza

Minimum Entry requirements

A candidate shall be deemed eligible for consideration for admission to a course leading to the award of the Certificate in Rural Development Planning if he/she has completed Form IV with at least four D passes in any subjects. A credit pass will be advantageous to the candidate.

OR

Basic certificate (NTA level 4) offered by any recognized institution accredited by NACTE.

The selected candidates must report at the Institute’s premises located at African Inland Church Tanzania (AICT) Bwiru Conference Centre on Sunday 28th October, 2012 ready for orientation program to start on the next day.

 Tuition fees for Diploma course is 760,000/=, Registration fee is 50,000/=, Students organization fee 20,000/= and sports and games is 10,000/=. It should be noted that, any money once deposited in the IRDP account shall not be refunded.
