Student’s accommodation services are operated under Mipango Students Accommodation Bureau (MISAB). There are three types of accommodation available through MISAB.
1. Hostels owned by IRDP
2. Hostels rented by MISAB
3. Hostels under private landlords who are willing to rent IRDP students but whose rent agreements are made between the landlords and individual students. MISAB in this case acts as a clearing house between the contracting parties
Eligibility and Condition for Securing MISAB Accommodation
All students pursuing various undergraduate and post graduate programs are eligible for accommodation services based on the criteria set by Mipango Students Accommodation Bureau (MISAB) and approved by the IRDP governing council; However, as accommodation facilities are limited, the Institute neither guarantees accommodation to any student nor obliged to provide the same to students and that students are strongly encouraged to look for private accommodation in the city in case effort to secure MISAB allocation fail.
Criteria used for allocating the limited accommodation available to MISAB.
The following criteria are used in allocating accommodation for students preferentially for those who have applied for accommodation from MISAB:
(i) Foreign students
(ii) Students with physical disabilities and under 18 students
(iii) First year students who are currently residing away from Dodoma City;
(iv) Continuing Female students currently residing away from Doma City
(v) Continuing male students residing away from Dodoma City
(vi) Any other students
Given the order of priority above, MISAB sorts the names of students according to these categories and proceed with the allocation process. It should be noted that information on application requests for accommodation should be received well before students arrive at the Institute.
Students who do not manage to get MISAB accommodation are advised to look for accommodation privately. Private accommodation agreements should be made between the students and the respective landlords. However, MISAB in collaboration with the Dean of Students can assist in making available a list of private accommodation possibilities for students who find it difficult to locate places to rent. It should be clearly understood that agreements made under such circumstances remain between the student and the particular land lord.
The Institute does not provide accommodation for couples or families, and that students are not allowed to live with spouses or children in the hostels. Married students wishing to stay with their families must identify and rent suitable off campus accommodations in town.
