The Institute of Rural Development Planning invites applications from qualified Tanzanians and non- Tanzanians for admission in the academic year 2012/2013.

1. POST-GRADUATE DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES (ONE YEAR)


  1. Postgraduate Diploma in Regional Planning
  2. Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Planning
  3. Postgraduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management
  4. Postgraduate Diploma in Governance and Sustainable Development 

 

Minimum Entry Requirements

Candidates for the Postgraduate Diploma Courses should have acquired any first degree or its equivalent academic qualifications from any higher learning institution registered by government or any recognized bodies of the country of study.

 

2. BACHELOR DEGREE PROGRAMMES (THREE YEARS)


 a)Bachelor Degree in Regional Development Planning

Minimum Entry requirements

The candidate shall be deemed eligible for consideration for admission to a course leading to the award of the Bachelor Degree in Regional Development Planning if he/she has obtained either an Ordinary Diploma (NTA level 6, with at least lower second class for classified awards or a B average grade for unclassified awards) from IRDP or any other learning institution accredited by NACTE

OR

Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (ACSEE) with a minimum of 4.5 grade points obtained from at least two principal passes and any subsidiary pass in Mathematics, Economics, Geography, History and English.

 

b)Bachelor Degree in Environmental Planning and Management

 Minimum Entry requirements

The candidate shall be deemed eligible for consideration for admission to a course leading to the award of the Bachelor Degree in Environmental Planning and Management if he/she has obtained either:
Ordinary Diploma (NTA level 6, with at least lower second class for classified awards or a B average grade for unclassified awards) from IRDP or any other learning institution accredited by NACTE.

 OR

Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (ACSEE) with a minimum of 4.5 grade points obtained from at least two principal passes and any subsidiary pass in Mathematics, Economics, Geography, Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Agriculture.


c) Bachelor Degree in Population and Development Planning

Minimum Entry requirements

The candidate shall be deemed eligible for consideration for admission to a course leading to the award of the Bachelor Degree in Population and Development Planning if he/she has obtained either Ordinary Diploma (NTA level 6, with at least lower second class for classified awards or a B average grade for unclassified awards) from IRDP or any other learning institution accredited by NACTE.

OR

Advanced certificate of secondary education (ACSEE) with a minimum of 4.5 grade points obtained from at least two principal passes and any subsidiary pass in Mathematics, Economics, Geography, Physics, Biology, History and Divinity

 

d) Bachelor Degree in Development Finance and Investment Planning

 Minimum Entry requirements

The candidate shall be deemed eligible for consideration for admission to a course leading to the award of the Bachelor Degree in Development Finance and Investment Planning if he/she has obtained either Ordinary Diploma (NTA level 6, with at least lower second class for classified awards or a B average grade for unclassified awards) from IRDP or any other learning institution accredited by NACTE.

OR

Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (ACSEE) with a minimum of 4.5 grade points obtained from at least two principal passes and any subsidiary pass in Mathematics, Accountancy, Commerce, Economics, Geography, History, English and Kiswahili.
 

e) Bachelor Degree in Human Resource Planning and Management

 Minimum Entry requirements

The candidate shall be deemed eligible for consideration for admission to a course leading to the Bachelor Degree in Human Resource Planning and Management award if he/she has obtained either Ordinary Diploma (NTA level 6, with at least lower second class for classified awards or a B average grade for unclassified awards) from IRDP or any other learning institution accredited by NACTE.

 OR

Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (ACSEE) with a minimum of 4.5 grade points obtained from at least two principal passes and any subsidiary pass in Commerce, Geography, History and English.


f) Bachelor Degree in Urban Development and Environmental Management

 Minimum Entry requirements

 The candidate shall be deemed eligible for consideration for admission to a course leading to the Bachelor Degree in Urban Development and Environmental Management award if he/she has obtained either Ordinary Diploma in Environment and Development, Development Planning and any other relevant field (NTA level 6, with at least lower second class for classified awards or a B average grade for unclassified awards) from IRDP or any other learning institution accredited by NACTE.

 OR

Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education (ACSEE) with a minimum of 4.5 grade points obtained from at least two principal passes and any subsidiary pass in Mathematics, Economics, Geography, Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Agriculture, History, Accountancy and Commerce.

 

3. ORDINARY DIPLOMA PROGRAMME (2 YEARS)


a)  Diploma in Development Planning

Minimum Entry Requirements

A candidate shall be deemed eligible for consideration for admission to a course leading to the award of the Diploma in Development Planning if he/she has obtained either Certificate (NTA level 5) with at least lower second class from IRDP or any other learning institution accredited by NACTE.

OR

Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education with a minimum of two grade points obtained from at least one principal pass and any other two subsidiary passes in relevant subjects.

 

4. CERTIFICATE COURSE (1 YEAR)


 a) Certificate in Rural Development Planning

Minimum Entry requirements

A candidate shall be deemed eligible for consideration for admission to a course leading to the award of the Certificate in Rural Development Planning if he/she has completed Form IV with at least four D passes in any subjects. A credit pass will be advantageous to the candidate.

OR

Basic certificate (NTA level 4) offered by any recognized institution accredited by NACTE.

 

MODE OF APPLICATION


A: Post Graduate Diploma Programmes

All applicants for Post Graduate Diploma Programmes should apply directly to the Institute of Rural Development Planning. The application forms can be downloaded from link by clicking here

 

 B: Bachelor Degree Programmes

Applicants for Bachelor Degree Programmes offered at the Institute of Rural Development Planning are grouped into the following categories:

 

(i) Direct Applicants

This category comprises all form six leavers who completed A-level education from 2010 to 2012 and those with ordinary Diploma (NTA level 6) who completed their studies from 2010 to 2012. (ii) Indirect Applicants

This category comprises applicants who have completed A-Level education in 2009 or before and those with Ordinary Diploma in Teachers Education (NTA level 6) obtained in 2009 or before. (iii) Equivalent applicants

This category comprises of applicants with Ordinary Diploma (NTA level 6) from the Institute of Rural Development Planning and any other diploma recognized by NACTE obtained in 2009 and before or A-level education with one year Certificate Course accredited by NACTE. C:  Ordinary Diploma and Certificate Programmes

Applicants for Ordinary Diploma in Development Planning and Certificate in Rural Development Planning should apply directly to the Institute of Rural Development planning (IRDP) in Dodoma. Application forms can be obtained from the link below or at the Institute Admission Office.

 

Important note for all applicants who apply direct to the Institute of Rural Development Planning:

  1. All applications must be accompanied by genuine photocopies of the relevant certificates. Applications without photocopies of relevant certificates will not be considered.
  2. Applications with Foreign Secondary School Certificates should be accompanied by National Examinations Council (NECTA) Equivalence translations.
  3. Applicants should pay a non-refundable application fee of TShs. 20,000/= (Twenty thousand shillings only) payable to the Institute of Rural Development Planning (IRDP) through CRDB bank (Dodoma Branch) with the account 01J1082678600
  4. Qualified female applicants are very much encouraged to apply.
  5. Candidates should return to the undersigned, the Applications Forms duly filled not later than 10th June 2012.
