Overview
The Office of the Director of Academic Support Services (DASS’s) is the steward of the academic record, ensuring its accuracy to protect the value and integrity of the IRDP Academic programs. The office serves undergraduate and graduate students in all matters related to degree and non-degree requirements and progress toward completion. The office is responsible for overseeing registration, grading, conferral of diplomas and degrees, and distribution of transcripts and certificates. It is also responsible for the enforcement and implementation of the Institute’s academic policies and procedures. The DASS is the official custodian of academic records, and the office is mandated by law to maintain unabridged past, present, and future academic records. The office continually improves its processes and procedures utilizing technology when possible to deliver services most effectively. The office's goal is to provide comprehensive and accurate academic records with the highest standards of integrity, accuracy, confidentiality, and security in order to help students achieve their educational goals.
Academic Calendar
An academic calendar is a schedule that outlines important dates and events for the academic calendar of the Institute of Rural Development Planning. It includes information about the start and end dates of the academic year, holidays, breaks, exam periods, and other important deadlines. Academic calendars help students, departments, and staff stay organized and plan their schedules accordingly.

Examination Time Table
A final examination schedule is a timetable that outlines the dates and times for final exams at IRDP. This schedule provides students with information on when their exams will take place for each course. Graduation
Graduation is a formal ceremony that celebrates the completion of a degree or academic program. It is a significant milestone in a student's academic journey and marks their transition from student to graduate. At IRDP this ceremony is celebrated every year in December. Graduation ceremonies include speeches, awards, and other special events to commemorate the occasion.

In 2007, the Department of Development Finance and Management Studies (DFMS) was established within the legal framework of the Institute to provide training programmes. The Department was born out of the sheer need of the Institute to expand and reach out to many clients with its noble goal of contributing to the implementation of national development plans for the social and economic development of Tanzania and other developing countries. In 2008, the Department started offering its first long-term programmes: Bachelor's Degree in Development Finance and Investment Planning (BDFIP)—the first batch of students for the named programme graduated in November 2011.

The Department of Rural Development and Regional Planning (DRDRP) at the Institute of Rural Development Planning (IRDP) is the largest and oldest department, offering a variety of training programs across different academic levels. The department enrolls approximately 2,600 students annually in certificate, diploma, bachelor, postgraduate, and master's degree programs. Its interdisciplinary staff, including professors, Ph.D. holders, master's degree holders, and tutorial assistants, emphasizes practical-oriented education through competence-based training (CBET), integrating theoretical knowledge with project works, field experiences, and planning studios. Research and consultancy services provided by the departmental academic staff cover a wide range of areas, including Regional development and rural-urban relationships, aiming to address challenges in rural development, regional planning, and local economic development to enhance the well-being of communities at the grassroots level and contribute to national prosperity.

The core functions of the department are Training, Research, and Consultancy services in the scope of Environmental Planning and Management; Urban Development and Environmental Management; Urban and Regional Planning; Geomatics; Environmental Health and Sanitation Management.
