Welcome to our Higher Education for Economic Transformation (HEET) project
The Institute of Rural Development Planning (IRDP) is one of the Higher Learning Institutions in Tanzania that benefit from a 5-year (2021-2026) project namely “Higher Education for Economic Transformation (HEET)”.
The project aims to bring a transformative change in the higher education sector by delivering labor market-centered training programs in the 14 national priority disciplines. It intends to build the capacity of fourteen (14) Public Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) under the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology (MoEST); three MoEST agencies, and five (5) HEIs under the Ministry of Finance and Planning (MoFP).
The HEET project activities implemented at IRDP include:
- Construction of a G+3 Eco-friendly Academic Block at IRDP Miyuji North near St. Gemma Hospital
- Updating curriculum and introducing innovative pedagogical methodologies
- Promoting applied research and innovation capacity
- Building functional linkages with the private sector/industry
- Developing online learning platforms and digital technology applications (including selecting and customizing Moodle-based learning platforms)
- Establishing state-of-the-art ICT infrastructure
- Capacity building in the development of online and ODL learning and pedagogy
- Promoting self-generated income
- Building capacity of academic staff and university leadership, and
- Strengthening management of the higher education system
