Area of Expertise
Dr. Timothy holds a PhD in Business Administration from Liaoning University (China), an MBA from Liaoning University (China), a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) and is an Associate Certified Public Accountant [ACPA (T)]
Work Experience
Dr. Vedastus Lyaya Timothy is a Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Rural Development Planning. In addition to teaching and doing research, Timothy has been involved in consulting projects for a number of institutions, including the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Belgian Development Agency (BTC) and the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA). He has a cumulative experience of more than 15 years in teaching, research and consultancy.
Professional Skills
Dr. Timothy has wide-ranging professional experience in implementing projects related to agro-industrial value chains, enterprise development, industrial cluster development, market linkages, market studies and procurement administration.
Research and academic Interests
He also has a broad interest in finance and its interaction with rural and local economic development. Dr. Timothy’s main research interests are in development finance, banking, investments, strategic management and value chains development.
