Work Experience

Mr. Daud Y. Peter is currently a tutorial assistant in the Department of Rural Development and Regional Planning, at the Institute of Rural Development Planning (IRDP), Dodoma since July 2023. He trains Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Cartography, Village Settlement Planning Studio, Population and Development, and Land Use Planning and Management for NTA Level 4, 5, and 6 students. He holds a Bachelor's degree of Science in Regional Development Planning from Ardhi University, Dar es Salaam 2021. He wrote his dissertation for his Bachelor's on the Potential of River Estuaries in promoting Urban Tourism in Tanzania. Prior to his current employment at IRDP, he has served as an Intern in various institutions, which among others include the National Land Use Planning Commission (NLUPC), Okoa Maisha kwa Takwimu (OMaT), Ardhi Institute of Tabora (ARITA), ARU Built Environment Consulting Company Ltd (ABECC), Tanzania Data Lab (dLab), Living Lab Initiative, and Ardhi University under Botnar fondation where he engaged as a Town Planner, Land Use Planner, and GIS Expert.


Professional Skills

•    Experienced in the use and applications of GIS software, Computer-Aided Design Software (CAD) such as AutoCAD and ArchiCAD, and tools such as GPS, Google Earth and Global Mapper.
•   Skills in using satellite data acquisition, processing, information extraction and analysis for land use/cover changes, prone areas and resource mapping 
•   Designing online mobile data collection platforms using the most current technologies, i.e. field Survey form, Megin maps for QGIS and OpenDataKit (ODK).


Research and academic Interests

My main research and academic interests are; Geo-spatial technologies, informality, urban mobility, Land use planning and Rural and urban planning issues.
