Work Experience

Dr. Mpeta is a senior lecturer and a researcher in Development economics at the Institute of Rural Development Planning (IRDP. He lectures on a range of subjects including, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and National Development Planning. He is currently the Head of Academic Affairs at the IRDP-Lake Zone Training Centre, Mwanza. As the Head of Academic Affairs, he is responsible for overseeing the teaching and learning process, research, and consultancy activities at the Centre. He advises the Director on all matters pertaining to the academic administration at the Centre. For over eight years (2011-2019), he worked on a DANIDA-sponsored project titled; Enhancing Productivity, Market Access and Income of Small Farming Businesses: Potentials and Limitations of Contract Farming:  Project 13-P03-TAN first, as a PhD student and later on as a Post Doc. Researcher. The project was theoretically and methodologically based on the framework of the (global) value chain approach and econometric analyses with the ambition to combine qualitative and quantitative methods in empirical studies.
